Backup & Data Responsibility Policy

 

This policy outlines the technical and legal responsibilities regarding data storage, backups, and restoration for all services hosted or managed by RUSD LTD.

1. THE “CLIENT-FIRST” DATA RULE

RUSD LTD operates a performance-optimized infrastructure; however, the Client is solely and exclusively responsible for maintaining independent, off-site backups of all website files, databases, and email content. Our internal server snapshots are for disaster recovery of our hardware and do not constitute a guaranteed backup service for individual clients.

2. BACKUP PROVISION & LIMITATIONS

  • Operational Snapshots: While we may perform routine snapshots for platform stability, we do not guarantee the integrity, availability, or success of these backups at any time.
  • No Reliance: These snapshots should never be used as a primary backup strategy. Clients must use their provided control panel tools to export and store their own data locally.

3. RESTORATION REQUESTS & FEES

If a Client requires RUSD LTD to attempt a data restoration from our internal archives, the following terms apply:

  • Submission: All requests must be submitted via the Official Backup Request Form.
  • First Request: Provided as a courtesy “best-effort” service at no cost (subject to availability).
  • Subsequent Requests: Subject to a £30 administration fee per restoration attempt, payable in advance via the request portal.
  • Success Not Guaranteed: Payment of the fee covers the technician’s time and does not guarantee that the data is recoverable or uncorrupted.

4. RESTORATION RISK (OVERWRITE WARNING)

Critical Warning: Initiating a backup restoration will permanently overwrite all current data on the server. RUSD LTD is not liable for any data loss, configuration errors, or site downtime resulting from a requested restoration.

5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY

To the fullest extent permitted by UK Law, RUSD LTD excludes all liability for any loss of data, corruption of databases, or failure to restore services, regardless of the cause (including server failure, software bugs, or human error).
